Jake Fraley will always remember his bases-clearing triple on the 4th of July that lifted the Cincinnati Reds to a sweep over the New York Yankees in the Bronx. But recently, his focus has been on something far more important than baseball. His young daughter, Avery, has been battling leukemia since the winter, and because of this, the Reds have placed him on the Family Emergency List.
Manager David Bell confirmed that Avery is doing well, but the team expected Fraley would need to step away from time to time this season. By league rules, his leave will last a minimum of three days and no more than seven.

Additionally, to clear space on the 40-man roster for Ríos, Cincinnati designated Levi Jordan for assignment.
