Version 3.5 Alpha soll vor allem codetechnische Verbesserungen mitbringen. Zusätzlich wurde das Erscheinungsbild des Installationsassistenten vereinfacht.

Der integrierte Updater lädt Updates ab sofort auch im Hintergrund herunter und wartet mit der Aktualisierung auf Wunsch, bis Paint.NET das nächste Mal beendet wird. Neben einer Reihe neuer Effekte kommen auch höhere Mindestvoraussetzungen hinzu: Paint.NET benötigt nun das .NET Framework 3.5 inklusive Service Pack 1.

Build 3522 bringt zahlreiche Bugfixes für das Textwerkzeug mit sich.
