Mitglieder von Coolaler.com haben ein Engineering Sample des Intel Core 2 Duo E8600, der normalerweise mit 3,33 GHz läuft, mit flüssigem Stickstoff um 87 Prozent auf erstaunliche 6.253 MHz  übertaktet .

Mit dieser Geschwindigkeit wurde mit 7,281 Sekunden ein neuer Weltrekord im SuperPi-1M-Benchmark erreicht.

Dafür war allerdings neben der extremen Kühlung auch eine Kernspannung von recht ungesunden 1,93 Volt notwendig.

Das Rightmark Clock Utility ist in der neuen Version 2.30 erschienen. Mit dem Open-Source-Tool lassen sich während des Betriebs unter anderem Prozessortakt und Kernspannung verändern. Dabei ist es möglich, für jeden CPU-Multiplikator eine spezielle Kernspannung festzusetzen.
